Soori's upcoming Kannada film ‘Junglee’ is creating lot of buzz. The songs of the film have already become a rage with the masses. Also 19-year-old the young starlet of Sandalwood Andrita Ray sets the glam quotient high for the film. Her bold scenes in the film are being talked about in the tinsel town. She is turning out to be a sex symbol and she is trying hard to become one.
Excerpts from an Interview:
Junglee brings a different side of you. The bold scenes give the message loud and clear that you are on your way to become the new sex siren. Is it?
Well it is not so! (Laughs) My debut Kannada film was Meravanige and this is only my second Kannada film. The film's director Mahesh Babu insisted that I had to be a tomboy and prankster in that film. I did what he wanted and my performance got applauded as well. But Junglee brought a different side of me, as it is a different kind of film. Throughout the film I am a simple girl-next-door clad in simple attire. It is only the songs that make me look bold. Director Soori sir wanted to present me differently in the songs. But they are meant only to add entertainment quotient in the film. I agreed to do the needful and the concept worked out well during the picturisation. The songs have now become huge hits. I am very happy.
The world is looking at you as the new sex symbol. Do you have any problem with the tag?
I don’t mind it! After Junglee may be all will call me as a sex symbol. However I have not worked towards getting the tag. As an artiste we have to be open towards such risks. I am just waiting to get the verdict now.
But there may be a shortcoming to this as well and may be hereon you will just be considered for the glamorous roles?
I don’t think so. Great artists like Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit and even Trisha have at the beginning of their careers titled as glam dolls, but they never had any shortcomings as performers. Sridevi is my idol. In films like Chandni and Mr India she has done hip shaking dances. Here also we have actresses like Malashri. May be I will transform as well. I took up acting, as I was passionate towards it. While I was studying dentistry I did films and modelling. I consider it a privilege to work with director like Soori at early stage in my career. I see no problem in doing what he wants me to do. In forthcoming films like Januma Janumadhalloo, Nannavanu and Vaayu Puthra, I play bubbly, lovely and trendy girl but not sexy.
How was it shooting for Junglee?
It was a fantastic experience. I got to work with Vijay. He worked hard to get those six pack abs. Rockline Venkatesh is the most professional producer according to me. He took care of everything though he hardly came to the sets. Shooting for the film was a learning experience for me.
Junglee is a complete entertainer; full of fun, action, glamour and much more.
