Whose pictures come to your mind’s eyes when you think of Kannada glam girls? I bet it’s none other than Ramya and Rakshitha. These girls are talented, beautiful and have many hit films to their credit.
They were at loggerheads at one point of time but buried all their differences and decided to act together in a film titled ‘Tananam Tananam’, directed by Kavitha Lankesh.
They have declared to the world that they are friends but the ego in them seems to be threatening to split them wide apart. Their film is still in the cans and their differences are obvious. Know the naked truth by reading what the heroines themselves say.
Excerpts from the interview:
Both Ramya and Rakshitha refused to act in ‘Tananam Tananam’ when director Kavitha Lankesh approached them but gave the nod later. What must be the reason behind?
Ramya: The cast of the film was not finalized when I first read the script. Urmila or Sushmita Sen was supposed to play the other role but they could not do, as Urmila was busy with other projects while Sushmita is too tall for the character. This is why Rakshitha stepped in. I demanded higher remuneration, knowing that the market value would increase owing to the star cast. The producer agreed to my demand and I gave the nod too.
Rakshitha: I rejected the offer initially because I was not happy with my role. But I later agreed to be a part of the film after the director increased my scenes by making necessary changes.
Whose role is better and who has more scenes in the film?
Ramya: Comparing our roles is unfair. Of course, I have got the title song, which is the best.
Rakshitha: We play different roles in the film. I haven’t heard the song sequences she is in but the songs that feature both of us have shaped out very well.
Rakshitha recently spelled out that Ramya made her wait for three long hours during the shooting of their film. What is their reaction on the report?
Ramya: I am sorry for the incident, as circumstances demanded it. But don’t stars make people wait?
Rakshitha: I don’t want to create another controversy out of it.
This is what the heroines say about the scene they were featured together.
Ramya: The five-minute scene in which we are featured together is the turning point of the film. It will reveal who is better actress.
Rakshitha: It’s a sentimental scene and both of us have done justice to the role.
How do they rate each other as an actress?
Ramya: I feel I am better than Rakshitha in emotional scenes but she is good at dance and comedy. You know, people cried when they see me cry in ‘Amrithadhaare’ but that don’t happy when Rakshitha does emotional scenes.
Rakshitha: I respect her as an actress and I won’t rate anyone except myself. I have been in the film industry for four years and she has done well during her three years’ stint here.
Are they willing to work together again in the future?
Ramya: No way.
Rakshitha: Certainly.
Want to know their favorite actresses?
Ramya: Me and myself.
Rakshitha: Malashree is my favorite actress.
